Adria Garcia

Grass braiding, Water Spirit

Adria_Garcia.jpeg

Adria Garcia is a Seattle-based installation artist, painter, designer, curator, mother, social and professional connector, businesswoman, and much more. She and Sarah Kavage have been collaborating on woven grass sculptures through their project, Studio Kabuya, since they joined forces for the 2011 Lo-Fi Art & Performance Festival at Smoke Farm.

Adria was not able to join the project on-site as planned due to the many complications around COVID 19 in the past year. However, we acknowledge her here as a collaborator, as past collaborations and ongoing conversations with Sarah continue to ripple outwards. Adria’s insights on process, community, form, and ecology permeate the work at Bartram’s Garden, Mill Grove, and Lehigh Gap. The grass-braiding practice is dedicated to ancestors and people in the fields everywhere.
